Yumara Salas Ramirez
Yumara Salas Ramírez is an organic coffee producer, beekeeper, and community leader from Santa Rita, in the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in Chiapas, Mexico. A longtime member of the Sierra Azul cooperative, she has built an exemplary track record across the coffee value chain, combining technical expertise, leadership, and a deep connection to her land. Yumara has steadily increased her coffee production, diversified her income through beekeeping, and strengthened her participation in decision-making within her organization, where she was elected Secretary by the general assembly of members.
Her story is shaped by the strength of the women in her family and by a deep conviction: to make visible the work of those who have sustained rural communities for generations, often without recognition. Today, Yumara represents a new generation of rural women who produce, transform, and lead with vision, paving the way toward a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable coffee sector.
