Denis Roy

Denis Roy is Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences (FSAA) and a Full Professor of Food Sciences at Université Laval, a deanship he has held since 2019.

An internationally renowned researcher, his work focuses primarily on food microbiology, milk quality, probiotics, the gut microbiome, and food safety issues related to biofilm formation in dairy systems. He is the author of more than 160 peer-reviewed scientific articles, as well as several monographs and chapters in reference books. His scientific contributions have earned him a place in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking (Stanford/Elsevier data). He has an H-index of 60 and nearly 15,000 citations, and has been recognized among the Top Reviewers in Agricultural Sciences.

In the field of scientific publishing, Professor Roy serves as a Scientific Editor for the Journal of Dairy Science and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Food Science. He also serves on the editorial boards of renowned journals such as Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Microorganisms, and Foods.

Alongside his academic responsibilities, he is deeply involved in the agri-food ecosystem. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Executive Committee and Scientific Committee and has served as an Axis Lead within the Op+Lait strategic research cluster. He also contributes to the governance of major organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of Alliance Agro-Parc Québec as Secretary-Treasurer and on the Board of Directors of Zone Agtech, after representing Université Laval in the MAPAQ AgroParc project.
