Diego Montenegro Ernst

Jaime Diego Montenegro Ernst currently serves as the Representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Mexico and as Coordinator for Special Affairs in the Northern Region. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics, specializing in Public Policy for Sustainable Development; a Master of Science with a specialization in Agribusiness; and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in International Trade and Economic Development, the latter degrees from Arizona State University.

Throughout his career, he has held several senior leadership positions. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bolivia and as IICA Representative in several countries. He also served as Regional Coordinator for Central America and as Director of Regional Management and Integration at IICA. In addition, he has worked as an international advisor and consultant for various international agencies.

He received the highest distinction for merit awarded by the Association of Oilseed and Wheat Producers (ANAPO) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, an organization where he also served as General Manager for eight years. He has published numerous articles in specialized journals and is the author of several books.
