Alain Olivier

Alain Olivier (B.Sc. in Agro-Biology, Ph.D. in Plant Biology) is a professor at Université Laval, where he heads the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Agroforestry (GIRAF) and the Master’s Program in Agroecology. In 2004, in Paris, he was awarded the Prix international La Recherche, Environment category for his research on agroforestry and, in 2016, the Université Laval Award for Excellence in Teaching, “Internationalization of Education” category. He chaired the Scientific Committee of the 5th World Congress of Agroforestry, held in Quebec City in 2022.

He is also the author of The Agroecological Revolution – Feeding All Humans Without Destroying the Planet (Écosociété, 2021) and Trees in Our Fields – How Agroforestry Can Transform Agriculture (Écosociété, 2025).
