For the past 41 years, my work has focused on promoting the generation of applied knowledge to strengthen sustainable livestock production through understanding and improving natural processes and biodiversity. I promote rural livelihoods that integrate silvopastoral systems, sustainable agriculture and livestock farming, food production, education, and the generation of applied scientific knowledge, co-designed through participatory processes with farmers and local communities at all scales.
I have participated as an advisor or project partner in sustainable livestock initiatives for the World Bank, FAO, Inter-American Development Bank, UNDP, CATIE, The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, Fundación Produce Michoacán in Mexico, and CET Chiloé in Chile.
